Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to your data when you use sotasci.com, Habitography, or Sellsnap. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate. If anything is unclear, ask us.

This website (sotasci.com)

  • No analytics, no cookies. This site does not use analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or cookies to track you.
  • Hosting. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log standard web server data (like IP addresses) as part of operating its hosting infrastructure; we don't have access to that data ourselves. See GitHub's privacy statement for details.
  • Contact form. The contact form on our contact page is handled by Formspree, a third-party form service. When you submit the form, your name, email address, and message are sent to Formspree and then to us, so we can reply. See Formspree's privacy policy for how they handle that data in transit.

Habitography

  • Data stored on your device. Your character, stats, quests, streaks, and journal entries are stored locally on your device by default.
  • On-device AI companion. The AI companion's suggestions and tips are generated on-device using a bundled small model, unless you turn on the option below. In that mode, nothing about your habits or quests is sent anywhere.
  • Optional cloud AI (your own key). If you choose to supply your own API key from a third-party AI provider, the prompts needed to generate suggestions (which may include information about your quests and progress) are sent to that provider under its own terms and privacy policy. This is entirely optional and off by default.
  • Optional social features. Friends, parties, and leaderboards are optional. If you turn them on, we sync only the information needed to make those specific features work (for example, your chosen display name and the progress relevant to a leaderboard) — not your full local data.

Sellsnap (early preview)

  • Photos are sent to a cloud vision API. Because Sellsnap is an early preview, photos you capture are sent to a third-party cloud vision service to identify the item and estimate a price range.
  • We don't store your photos. Photos are used to generate the identification and price range and are not retained by us afterward.
  • On-device version in progress. We're exploring a version of Sellsnap that performs identification on-device, removing the need to send photos anywhere. This policy will be updated when that ships.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data.
  • We don't use your data to train models without telling you first.
  • We don't require an account to use the core features of either app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Meaningful changes (for example, a new default data flow) will also be noted in the app itself where practical.
